RI - Spain Initiating non-war military operations

Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro receive visits Spanish Defense Minister Pedro Morenes Eulate ago on January 12, 2013. This visit was conducted to discuss defense cooperation, education, planning, innovation, logistical support, and the acquisition of defense products. In addition, the partnership also initiated Transfer of Technology (ToT) relating to the acquisition of the use of military equipment production system and State Owned Strategic Industries (BUMNIS) in Indonesia.
 

The two sides agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been initiated since 2007, which originated from the Spanish government policies that want to develop relationships in the Asia Pacific region. Implementation of the policy conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of Spain.
 

Spanish Defence Minister was present accompanied the Spanish Ambassador to Indonesia Rafael Conde de Saro, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral D Spain Jaime Munoz Delgado, Chief Cabinet D Admiral Javier Pery Parades, and officials Kemhan Spain.
 

In fact, the cooperation between Indonesia and Spain have been intertwined since the 1970s, the partnership in producing kinds Cassa aircraft for civil and military of Indonesia. Spain hopes, in the future, may intensify kerjama production in various industries such as Shipping Spanish Navantia.
 

Operation Nonmilitary 
Indonesian Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said the MoU was signed, also approved the implementation of the non-war military operations such as disaster management (disaster relief). This operation is important given Indonesia a disaster prone.
 

In the case of a disaster, the premises have more experience dealing with disasters in the last 10 years, such as the floods that hit various cities, earthquakes, a tsunami, volcanic eruption, and others. In the 2004 tsunami, Spain had helped Indonesia. *)
